Responding to a "man with gun" call, police say that Lopez' girlfriend ran out of her house, Lopez followed, and then shot her in the back with a handgun. They state he pointed his gun or shot at them; a witness says he shot once in the air, put his hands up and fell to his knees. They "riddled him with bullets" according to his family.
