Sgt. Steve Shoemaker was responding to an emergency call about a stolen truck when he crashed into a car driven by Evelyn Orman, who was attempting to turn left onto County Road 452 when the crash occurred. Orman, who was thrown from the car, was pronounced dead at the scene, as was her niece, Brittany Gates.
