According to police, officers saw a Dodge Caravan driving without a license plate. The van had allegedly struck a pole near Joy Road and Livernois Avenue when officers attempted a traffic stop, and the minivan fled. Police said the van hit another car, a 2015 Ford Focus, and then several other parked cars. The passenger in the Caravan, a 23-year-old Redford man, was ejected from the car and was pronounced dead at the scene. The 23-year-old driver, Eric Clanton of Detroit, was taken to the hospital in critical condition with multiple injuries, but died from his injuries.
