Officials said Eric Byron Johnston was killed on the scene after an apparent altercation over a hit-and-run incident. The man reportedly hit and severed a light pole with a other around Dollar and Lost Avenue. Authorities said they tracked him down and an altercation ensued after officers made contact. Johnston brandished a serrated kitchen knife and refused orders to drop the weapon. Police shot and killed him.
