Smith and two other teen girls stole a Lexus from a gas station at about 2 a.m. and, 10 hours later, in the course of a high-speed pursuit with state troopers, ran the Lexus into the back of a parked dump truck. Smith, the driver, died, and the other two girls were seriously wounded.
