Police in Dayton responded to a complaint of a stabbing in the city around 7 p.m., but by the time they arrived, Raymond Walters Jr., 32, had already fled. He drove into nearby Riverside and crashed into a tree. Riverside police responded to the crash, and the man got behind the wheel of one of their cruisers and fled. He crashed into several cars on the road, killing Eleanor McBride, 6, and Penelope Jasko, 6, and injuring at least 10 other people.
