Elarry Brumfield Jr.
Less-than-lethal force
Elarry Brumfield was found dead in his home on Merrywood Court after a standoff. Police say a few hours before, Brumfield was in a nearby Walgreens parking lot attempting to shoot his wife. "A victim had told us that her husband had started shooting at her and her mother, so we brought them to the police station, and then officers went to look for the suspect and found him at his house," Capt. James Massey said. Massey said police made several attempts to get Brumfield to come out of his home, but he refused and barricaded himself inside. The standoff lasted more than an hour, during which Brumfield reportedly set the house on fire while he was inside. About 30 minutes after the fire started, police went in and found Brumfield dead.
