Deadly force
An Elbert County Highway Patrol trooper stopped a other for a traffic offense. During the stop, police say Maldonado was found to be driving without a license and was suspected to be driving under the influence. When the trooper attempted to arrest Maldonado for the offenses, Maldonado reached for the trooper's gun belt. The trooper shot and killed Maldonado.
