Officers were dispatched at 1:30 p.m. to investigate a report of people who were possibly drunk and smoking marijuana. The first Montebello officer to arrive saw an individual walking with a shotgun. The officer shot and killed Eddie Herrera, although details as to what precipitated the killing were withheld by police.
