Deadly force
Maker, armed and suicidal, drove away from Midland police officers who conducted a welfare check on him. Multiple agencies pursued Maker on US Highway 385. Law enforcement tried and failed to shoot out Maker's tires. Maker avoided two sets of spike strips. In Andrews, Maker struck a DPS patrol other, turned off of onto Mustang Drive, then struck a DPS other a second time. Troopers fatally shot Maker. The Texas Ranger Division investigated.
