Deputies were called at approximately 9:40 a.m. regarding the request for a welfare check. When deputies arrived at the home, deputies reportedly encountered Donald Francis Hairston, 44, in an agitated state. Hairston ran indoors and barricaded himself inside, eventually coming out with a gun. Shots were fired at the officers and a deputy shot and killed Hairston.
