Derrick Simmons died after he impaled his leg on a wrought iron fence while jumping from a garage to escape police on the South Side. At around 7:25 p.m., Simmons and another man had allegedly robbed a woman at gunpoint. Simmons was pronounced dead at a hospital of a stab wound to the thigh.
