A man killed in a shootout with deputies was an ex-convict who was sentenced to 10 years in prison for armed robbery, police said. Dennis Lee Savage, 45, was killed at a Quik Mart. Savage shot at Deputy Clifford B. McGrath, 27, who returned fire and killed him. It hasn't been determined why Savage shot at McGrath, police said.
