Police responded to a report of an armed suicidal man at about 1:30 p.m. A gun was reportedly taken from the man. An officer later saw David Shafer leave a residence with a firearm. The officer called for the man to drop the gun after it appeared he was aiming it at someone. Shafer reportedly turned to point the gun at the officer. The officer shot and killed Shafer, who was about three houses away.
