Deadly force

Officers responded to a home in relation to reports of a man firing a gun inside a home. When they arrived, a resident of the house said David Judge reportedly was armed and barricaded inside the home. Hostage negotiators reportedly spoke with Judge multiple times, but he refused to cooperate. After a six-hour standoff which included flash bang grenades, Judge came out of the home at around 12:30 a.m. walking backwards as instructed by police. When an officer instructed Judge to lay down on his belly, Judge turned suddenly and pointed at the officer. Officer David Ortiz shot and killed him. Police said Judge was armed with two handguns.
