David Hand allegedly stole a coin machine around 6 a.m. from the wall of a Coin Op Laundry. He was spotted three hours later on Wilbur Avenue trying to open the machine with a truck that was reportedly stolen. When officers arrived, the man fled, leaving the coin machine behind. Police said the man then drove his truck into the Feather River at the Yuba City boat docks parking lot. He then got out of the truck and swam to the riverbank, where he was confronted by officers. The man reportedly went back into the river and drowned.
