Police responded to a 911 call that David Earl Brooks Jr. was walking down the road holding a shotgun at 10:40 a.m. Police encountered Brooks on the side of the road and told him to drop the gun, according to police car video. Then they shot and killed Brooks after he moved one of his arms. The gun turned out to be a sawed off shotgun, which is illegal to open carry in North Carolina.
