Deadly force
Officers were serving a warrant at around 11 a.m. to David C. Cermak for a probation violation and receiving stolen property. Deputy Tom Flynn reportedly had Cermak in a bear-hug; there was a struggle and shots were allegedly fired. Flynn was hit in the side. police said. Deputies Gerald A. Kellogg, Harold V. Ohlinger and Jarrod L. Wineinger and Sgt. Shawn A. Millikan shot Cermak, killing him. Flynn's vertebrae was nicked, police said, but it didn't cause serious injury. Deputy David Heins reportedly needed stitches after another deputy's K-9 got confused and bit him.
