Officers were called on reports of possible shots fired. When they arrived, a man allegedly began firing at them. DaShaun Shepard was the only person inside the home. Some neighboring homes in the area were evacuated. He was killed around 8:15 a.m. when police fired a combination of shots and teargas into the home.
