Deadly force
Neighbors found Atkins passed out on the lawn of his condominium in the evening, took a gun away from him, and saw him back inside. A further conversation revealed Atkins as heavily armed and making suicidal statements. This developed into a police response, Atkins sticking a rifle out his window at them, and 10 or 12 shots from officers. He was fatally shot.
