Deputies responded to a call of a man with a gun inside a Shell Gas Station at around 4 p.m. Daniel Messmer was allegedly armed with a handgun and appeared to be intoxicated. When deputies arrived, they found Messmer in a desert area east of the gas station armed with a handgun. After being told to drop his weapon, Messmer failed to comply and allegedly pointed his gun at the deputies, who shot and killed him.
