Less-than-lethal force

Damon "Poppo" Abraham died five hours after being tasered by Baldwin police while handcuffed. Abraham went to the police department to check on a restraining order filed against him, but was told that he had outstanding warrants. Abraham reportedly took off running and an officer shot him with a Taser. According to witnesses, Abraham was then handcuffed, tasered three more times and hit with a baton. The St. Mary Parish coroner's report ruled Abraham's death an accident and cited "excited delirium" as the cause of death. It said cocaine intoxication was involved in the "circumstances of death."
