Jaramillo was one of a group of five amateur kidnappers, ranging in age from 26 to 17, who took two 17- and 19--year-old boys hostage in a trailer park for a $250K ransom. The family went to the police, the police staged a raid, Jaramillo appeared with a gun in her hand, and she was fatally shot. The two boys reported that they'd been beaten and tortured.
