At Rest

Less-than-lethal force
Smith was released from prison after serving 6 years for committing eight armed robberies in 1998. He was living with his grandmother, Mary Kathryn Smith, while on parole. She called a parole agent because he was acting strange. Officers George McLaughlin and Jed Custer met the agent outside the home. A fight started when Smith attempted to grab a knife. After the fight, which included use of a Taser, he was shackled at the hands and feet and died.
This record exists so that Curtis Lee Smith, and all who are named in this archive, are never reduced to a number.
