Beaumont Police received a call at about midnight from the the Merit Inn regarding a trespasser. While they were going to the Inn, police received information a man was assaulting and robbing the clerk. When confronted by the officer, Crederick Joseph reportedly began assaulting the officer. The officer shot and killed him.
