Dawson was driving a Chrysler PT Cruiser that had been reported missing. The chase reached speeds of up to 90 mph in a 35 mph zone. Officer Nick Wardrip alleged he stopped the chase three blocks before Dawson crashed into 44-year-old Cornell Yancey, killing him.
