According to police, an officer was investigating a robbery in the area when he spotted a man who matched the description of the robbery suspect. When the officer attempted contact, the man fled on foot and pulled out a firearm. Colby Friday allegedly stopped running and engaged in a confrontation with the officer, and he was shot and killed by Officer David Wells. The City of Stockton agreed to pay $3.25 million in a civil settlement to Friday's children
