Deadly force
Police observed a burglary in progress and contacted the Frederick County Sheriff's Office. The Howard County police officers were instructed to conduct a traffic stop on the suspect's car. During the traffic stop, the suspect car rammed a Howard County police car and drove in the general direction of officers who were out of their cars. Two officers fired, striking and killing Cody Mitchell. The woman driver was arrested. Police alleged vehicular assault.
