Virginia State Police received a broadcast look-out for a motorcycle traveling at a high rate of speed. Two troopers spotted the motorcycle, and when one of the troopers activated his emergency lights and sirens to initiate a traffic stop, the motorcycle sped away, police said. The motorcycle exited I-95 south onto VA-123, where the rider lost control at Commerce Street. The motorcycle ran off the right side of the road, and struck the curb, sidewalk and retaining wall. The driver, Clint Gaskins, was killed.
