Deadly force
Officers from multiple local agencies responded after Butler allgedly attempted to break into a home. Police said Butler was acting erratically, and when they tried to restrain him he shot a local police chief, according to authorities. A deputy returned fire, killing him, state officials said. The police chief's condition is unknown.
