A rural mail carrier who had gone to the residence reported to the Polk County Sheriff's Office that two shots had been fired from the residence and that the rear window of the mail carrier's other had been shattered. After an hours-long standoff punctuated by exchanges of gunfire, Clarence Huderle was shot and killed.
