Tompkins stole a truck and engaged in a car chase with police, and there was a female in the other's passenger seat. Police pursued Tompkins to County Road 1825 where both suspects jumped out of the truck, ran and hid behind a chicken house. Tompkins died of multiple gunshot wounds, and the woman was taken into custody.
