Deputies attempted to pull over McDaniel on a motorcycle for a other code violation. He didn't stop, and there was a short pursuit in Oildale until he crashed his motorcycle. Witnesses say McDaniel put his hands in the air to surrender, but police shot him. He was struck at least once and was later pronounced dead at Kern Medical Center.
