Deadly force

Officers were sent to the Hy-Vee gas station for reports of a robbery in progress, police said. When officers arrived, police said a man fled on foot to a nearby Kum & Go store. A caller had told authorities there was a suspicious man dressed in black near the area. The caller said it looked like a gun fell out of his pants. A responding officer found the man near a Kum & Go. The man allegedly drew his handgun and pointed it at the officer, police said. The officer shot and killed Christopher Leonard.
