Christopher L. Brandon
Deadly force
Police shot Christopher L. Brandon when he reportedly fired on officers shortly after he'd shot and killed firefighter Leonard Riggins. Investigators said it appeared Brandon had carjacked or attempted to carjack four cars within a span of minutes. Brandon crashed one of the cars he'd taken at Spring Garden and Dudley Drive. Riggins, 52, in his uniform and driving a Fire Department other, approached the wrecked car to help. Brandon reportedly struggled with Riggins, shot him and took his car. Police came upon Brandon a few minutes later at Spring Garden and Riverview, where they said Brandon was trying to switch Riggins' car for another carjacked other. According to police, Brandon shot at them, and the officers returned fire, killing him.
