Gang detectives or a narcotics task force, suspecting Roskelley of a prior non-fatal shooting, waited outside a home or followed his car to the home. When Roskelley pulled his car into the driveway, "multiple officers closed in" and "multiple shots were fired". Police claim he had a gun. Roskelley was killed; his male passenger was unhurt, arrested and released.
