Police were called to a Best Buy parking lot at 3:36 p.m. on a report of a disorderly subject damaging at least one other in the lot. Several witnesses reported the man was using a tire iron on the other. One Springfield police officer, Eric Pardee, arrived to confront Chase Brooks and shot and killed him when Brooks allegedly charged the officer with the tire iron.
