Deadly force
Chapman and an accomplice fled the scene of their motel armed robbery with police in hot pursuit. Authorities described their throwing both guns and cash out their car windows. The chase ended at a municipal park, at 10 p.m., where Chapman was fatally shot. The accomplice was charged with both armed robbery and with Chapman's murder.
