Deadly force
Deputies shot Charles "Jordan" Caughlan when he allegedly came at them with a knife. At around 6:15 p.m., two deputies responded to a 911 call from Caughlan's father, who said his son was out of control and had a knife. The deputies confronted Caughlan as he walked along Faithful Lane. Deputies tried to convince Caughlan to put the knife down, but they said he threatened to kill them. When Caughlan started toward them, one deputy used a Taser, but it didn't make positive contact with Caughlan. Caughlan allegedly then lunged with the knife at a deputy, so the second deputy shot Caughlan once and he died at a hospital.
This record exists so that Charles “Jordan” Caughlan, and all who are named in this archive, are never reduced to a number.
