At approximately 10:47 a.m., the California Highway Patrol received a 911 call regarding a suspicious man walking in the roadway with a firearm. The description given to dispatchers was a white man in his early 30s, wearing a leather jacket. Multiple troopers and Arcata Police Department responded and located a male matching this description, walking in the roadway with a firearm. He allegedly brandished a firearm and police shot and killed him. Humboldt County Sheriff William Honsal confirmed that the person killed was not fugitive his agency was seeking.
