Adams was with another suspect (Barthelemy), who shot an officer. The officer shot and killed Adams and injured Barthelemy. The motive is not clear why Barthelemy shot the officer, but it was alleged that Barthelemy stated "I'm 'bout to kill this cop" before shooting him.
