Officers Peter Wilson and Cody Willis responded to a domestic disturbance and report that Beeler had two knives in his waistband and wouldn't show his hands or follow their instructions. They state that they tried to taser him but missed, and that he advanced toward them brandishing a knife. Both officers fired, hitting him in the chest or torso. Beeler died in the hospital 09/21/2014.
