Ben Ellett, who was known to be mentally ill, lived just down the street from an off-duty police officer. Ellett allegedly parked in the officer's driveway and knocked on his door and returned to his car. Ellett allegedly fired a rifle at the off-duty officer's house. The officer came outside and fatally shot Ellett.
