Behzad Nikyar was a 53-year-old resident of Qazvin, Iran. He was the father of one daughter and was not involved in political activity, according to his family. On January 9, 2026, during a period of unrest and reported gunfire in the city, he was shot while taking out his household garbage near his home. He later died from his injuries.
Behzad Nikyar, also known as Behzad Kimasi Selkhori, lived in the Khaghani area of Qazvin. Described by relatives as a civilian uninvolved in demonstrations, he stepped a short distance from his house on the evening of January 9, 2026, to dispose of trash.
According to family accounts, he was shot while returning home. A video reportedly filmed the following morning showed blood stains along the alley where he had attempted to crawl back to his front door after being wounded. He later succumbed to his injuries. He is survived by his daughter.
