Barrington Williams was allegedly selling subway-card swipes, and the police were called on him. He took off on foot and was caught after a short chase. Severely out of breath, he reportedly had a severe asthma attack and died in custody as CPR-trained police looked on and did not provide lifesaving attention. A wrongful death settlement was eventually reached.
This record exists so that Barrington Williams, and all who are named in this archive, are never reduced to a number.
