A deputy conducted a traffic stop on Booker for unspecified suspicious behavior. Booker stepped out of the car. The deputy tried to handcuff him. Booker ran away. The deputy tasered him in the back. Booker collapsed, causing a taser probe to work lose. Booker continued fleeing and jumped into Carpenter's Bayou where he was taken by the current and drowned. Police ruled it a suicide.
