Police responded to a 911 domestic violence call encountered 65 year old Balantine Mbegbu eating dinner inside his home. Mbegbu denied any domestic violence and a struggle ensued after one of the officers laid hands on Mbegbu. Police claim Mbegbu kicked and spilled hot water on them. At wrongful death trial, Mbegbu family attorney said Mbegbu was punched in the face by a police officer then tased without warning by another. He went into convulsions immediately afterward and died. Family awarded $200,000 settlement
