At Rest

Less-than-lethal force
Aubrey Zoe Brown died of an internal hemorrhage after suffering blunt-force trauma to the abdomen while in her father, officer Nayton Gray's care, prosecutors said. Gray denied that he caused the injuries, claiming that Aubrey was constipated, and he massaged her stomach in an effort to relieve the pain she seemed to be experiencing. When she became unresponsive, he said he performed CPR and dialed 911. Gray said he did not murder his daughter, and that her mother Phyliss Brown admitted to spanking her for messing with her iPod. Gray was convicted.
