Biography
Asil Samir Masalmeh was a 32-year-old Palestinian woman from Beit Awwa in the occupied West Bank. She was six months pregnant when she was critically injured by missile shrapnel that struck a beauty salon during an missile attack targeting Israel. She was taken to hospital in Hebron, where she later died of her injuries. Her death, along with her unborn child, made her one of the four Palestinian women killed in the incident.
Asil Samir Masalmeh lived in Beit Awwa, a Palestinian town southwest of Hebron in the occupied West Bank. At 32 years old and six months pregnant, she was among a group of women gathered at a local beauty salon on the evening of 18 March 2026, reportedly ahead of the upcoming Eid al-Fitr. During that time, Iranian missiles were launched toward Israel, and one projectile was either intercepted or fragmented in flight. Debris fell into the town, striking the salon and causing severe injuries. Asil sustained critical shrapnel wounds and was transported to Dura Governmental Hospital. Despite medical efforts, she died the following day. Her death, along with that of her unborn child, underscores the severe impact of the conflict on civilians in areas lacking adequate protective infrastructure.
