Officers were called for a report of an argument. Arnaldo Caraveo allegedly displayed a handgun during a confrontation with someone while in a white truck. Mesa police attempted to stop Caraveo, but he fled. Police, including DPS and Phoenix police, pursued. A DPS officer successfully performed a PIT maneuver. Caraveo exited the other and opened fire with a fully automatic M16 assault rifle. Two officers were injured from flying glass. The M-16 turned out to be stolen from a police department.
